The starting salary for this role is £40,227 per annum for a 36 hour working week.

The successful applicant will be part of the Public Health Intelligence and Insight Team which provides intelligence to inform Public Health and system partners in addressing local health needs and reducing health inequalities, regularly collaborating with a wide variety of analytic partners to deliver joint intelligence. We are looking for an Advanced Public Health Intelligence Specialist to join our Public Health Intelligence and Insight Team (PHIIT). Primarily to lead our programme of Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA), but also supporting on other ad-hoc intelligence priorities as required. Your work will be a blend of analysis, reporting and project management and will focus on specific geographical areas, population cohort groups and health and wellbeing issues.
This role is a 1-year fixed term position. An internal secondment would also be considered. If you would like to apply on the basis of a secondment, please gain the agreement from your line manager before applying.
The postholder will work with key stakeholders across the County, including the community and voluntary sector and local people to obtain, analyse, interpret and publish information which contributes to our understanding of factors that influence health and wellbeing, and health inequalities, in Surrey.
You will have experience of drawing together diverse sources of information to provide data analysis, interpretation, and presentation, preferably in public health or healthcare. We are looking for someone with strong quantitative research skills and some experience of using qualitative methodologies. You will need to provide specialised advice on public health intelligence and statistics and be willing to develop qualitative work that may involve analysing the views of local communities and organisations.
You will be the coordination lead for JSNA production. You will therefore be able to demonstrate excellent project management skills, with experience of managing a number of projects to deadline. You will embrace agile working methods to ensure that our analyses are delivered in a timely fashion.
You should have experience of developing good working relationships with a range of partners including those in the NHS, Local Authorities and the Community and Voluntary Sector.
You should have a good understanding of the wider determinants of health.
You will need experience of presenting to a range of different audiences.
It would be a bonus if you're skilled in the use of the data science tools such Tableau, SQL, R or Python.
