Senior Commercial Officer - Radar
Would you like to work as part of the Commercial team with BAE Systems? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Commercial Officer at our site in Portsmouth.
As a Senior Commercial Officer, you will be working as a member of the Product and Training Services (P&TS) commercial team to provide commercial services and support to meet the operational needs of the P&TS line management. Reporting to a Commercial Manager within the Radar business sector and operating not only within the individual business team but also as part of the wider P&TS commercial team.
This role will provide you with a high variety and volume of work related to bidding activities, commercial negotiations and contract management.
Your main responsibilities as a Senior Commercial Officer will involve:
Supporting the Senior Commercial Manager by taking responsibility for the commercial support on bids into the UK Ministry of Defence, other external customers and to other parts of BAES.
Supporting BAES Supply Chain in the preparation of sub-contract terms and conditions as required
Negotiating of proposals with potential customers and ensuring that this results in acceptable business agreements and contracts
Commercial Management of Contracts acting as focal point for contractual/commercial issues, Contract Changes etc.
Generating suitable NDA and teaming agreements in accordance with policy
Working with the internal legal team and external legal advisors as required to ensure all bids/contracts have the necessary legal input/governance
Responding to the needs and wants of the customer by understanding their requirements, through researched understanding, open discussion and candid clarification questions
Providing advice on commercial policy to Line/Project Management and non-Commercial staff making the case for the added value of these processes.
Help Senior Commercial Manager to support and develop junior members of the team.
Your skills and qualifications:
Qualified to relevant Degree e.g. Business / Legal, standard or equivalent
IACCM qualified or prepared to study towards
Practical and relevant comprehensive work experience of bidding, negotiating commercial and contractual terms and contract management.
Good and broad professional knowledge of Commercial principles, techniques and practices and understands how Commercial roles fit in the organisation as a whole
Ability to work unsupervised and provide solutions for management consideration
Knowledge of working in the UK Defence Sector
Experience of creating and presenting business cases to commercial and non-commercial management
