We support the vulnerable in our community with a whole person approach: mind, body and spirit. Help lead us into a post Covid future adapting our services to meet these needs and offering hope with care, trust and respect. 

Living Well is a caring community which aims to be a place where people feel acceptedloved and valued.We work with our partners to support people with different needs – including addictions, mental health problems, debt or homelessness – in Penge, South East London and the surrounding areas.

 

What will you be doing?

The role of the Chair is to provide leadership and direction to the board of Trustees. The Chair’s aim is to enable the board to fulfil their responsibilities for the overall governance and strategic direction of the organisation and in line with it’s Christian ethos. The Chair will ensure that the organisation complies with its constitution and other governing document(s), charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations and to make sure that the organisation pursues its objects as defined in its governing document. The Chair's role is to work in partnership with the Board and support the employees and volunteers, helping them achieve the aims and objectives of Living Well Bromley.

  • A Practicing Christian
  • Commitment to the aims and objectives and Ethos of Living Well Bromley.
  • Proven leadership ability in a similar role.
  • Integrity, strategic vision and good/independent judgement.
  • A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to their duties as Chair and trustee.
  • Ability to take decisions for the good of Living Well Bromley.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Tact and diplomacy.
  • Willingness to speak candidly whilst also listening to the views of others.
  • An ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Understanding of the legal responsibilities and liabilities of a trustee.
  • Prior experience of committee/trustee/chief executive work.
  • Knowledge of the type of work undertaken by Living Well Bromley.
  • A wider involvement with the voluntary/faith sector.
  • An proven ability to chair meetings
  • Has experience and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • A commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.

Time commitment

The Board meets at least five times a year, 2 hours. Regular contact with senior staff and attendance to events will also be needed. AGM in March.
