We are a highly successful UK-based Fintech Software vendor embarking on an exciting growth journey after significant recent investment in new product and people. Over the next 12 months, the business will grow headcount and revenues significantly as our new flagship Enterprise SaaS platform releases a unique proposition in the market. We’re looking for a Senior DevOps engineer to join our team.

Senior DevOps Engineer
Swindon, SN6 – Oxfordshire / Cotswolds border
Up to £75,000

Tech Skills: AWS, Linux, Terraform, preferably Python

About You:

We have a proactive and can-do attitude to our work and are looking for a highly motivated self-starter who can deliver high quality solutions. We work hard to keep up with emerging technologies and best practice, so it is important that you enjoy continuously improving your knowledge and skills.

You will be responsible for the following:

+ Act as a deputy to the Head of DevOps.
+ Heavily involved in the recruitment process of the DevOps team.
+ Defining and building the infrastructure in AWS in collaboration with the Head of DevOps
+ Working very closely with our development team to ensure that the infrastructure meets their requirements and is delivered in a timely manner.
+ Making performance improvements to our AWS infrastructure that benefits our applications.
+ Becoming responsible for cost control with-in our AWS infrastructure.
+ Investigating and resolving any issues reported in the infrastructure across both production and test systems.
+ Supporting our classic platform and assisting in the migration of our clients onto our new platform.
+ Identifying new and improved solutions to business challenges as they arise and working to ensure that all solutions are cost effective and perform as expected.

You will ideally have experience with most of the following:

+ Several years’ hands on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure
+ Strong expertise in Linux system administration.
+ Skilled in programming, preferably in Python.
+ Several years' experience of using Terraform, Packer and other Hashicorp tools to build infrastructure.
+ Experience in building and operation monitoring systems for both the application stack and the infrastructure hardware.
+ Experience of data flows and data ingestion processes at a large scale.
+ Experience of using Ansible or an equivalent configuration management tool.
+ Confidence working with a team developing full-stack solutions.
+ A good understanding of IP networking both IPv4 and IPv6.
+ Working with all levels of business stakeholders both internal and external to the business.
+ Experience in both network and application security, Firewalls, VPN’s, setting and monitoring security policies, etc.

The following skills would be advantageous for a candidate to have had exposure to:

+ Kubernetes
+ Docker and containers
+ Virtualisation technologies
+ Exposure to agile environments using methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
+ VoIP telephony
