Are you an experienced customer key account manager who is looking for an exciting new opportunity within the aerospace manufacturing sector?

An established business in the Wolverhampton area is looking to add new permanent recruits to its team in both this senior role, and also in a junior version of this position (advertised separately).

The successful appicant will have at least 5 years' commercial management experience, either with or for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 aerospace customer, and be experienced in managing teams in an engineering/manufacturing environment.

An engineering degree or similar qualification is also a requirement for this vacancy.

Applicants must also be able to display knowledge in the follwing areas:
• Commercial considerations of supplying a Tier 1 aerospace manufacturer
• Manufacturing engineering within the aerospace supply chain
• Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret machining requirements
• Quoting of machining and light fabrication work for aerospace AS9100 requirements
• NPI for aerospace
• Structured Problem Solving (e.g. DMAIC)
• MRP Systems
• Negotiation skills and customer relationships
• Coaching & mentoring others
• Leadership

Main Purpose and Scope of Job:

• To be the primary point of contact for a Tier 1 aerospace customer with annual spend with the company of £4m, plus all new strategic aerospace customers, building trust through transparency and excellent, professional communication.
• To ensure that the company is the customers' first choice supplier, taking responsibility for the growth of the account.
• To maximise the conversion rate of new opportunities, by ensuring that quotations are accurate and timely.
• To act as the customers' voice within the company, resolving day-to-day issues quickly and effectively.
• Create long-term trusting relationships with customers.
• Develop new business from existing customers and actively seek new sales opportunities.
• Prepare and submit customer quotations for machining and light fabrication, including reviewing drawings and working with the engineering teams.
• Negotiate contracts and close agreements to maximize profits.
• Develop trusted relationships with key stakeholders, external as well as internal.
• Ensure the timely and successful delivery of our customer service according to customer needs and objectives.
• Clearly communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop new business with existing customers.
• Proactively identify areas of improvement to increase sales.
• Cross functional working as required to cover other business key accounts as required.

Statement of Accountabilities:

• Act as primary point of contact for a Tier 1 aerospace customer plus all new strategic aerospace customers, • Building trust through transparency and excellent communication.
• Lead commercial negotiations with customers on aspects such as pricing, long term agreements, and materials.
• To proactively drive sales growth within the aerospace accounts, focussing on production opportunities by working closely with the customer to understand upcoming opportunities.
• Receive and co-ordinate the preparation of new mechanical engineering quotes, including machining, tooling and light fabrication, with support from the Manufacturing Engineering team and NPI team, as appropriate.
• Lead contract reviews for all new orders, working with the engineering, quality, planning and procurement functions.
• Manage the orderbook and forecast, working with production functions to plan accordingly and provide account metrics to the management team.
• Organise and lead regular strategic reviews internally and with the customers' senior leadership teams, communicating the outcomes to all stakeholders.
• Assist with challenging client requests or issue escalations as needed.
• Assess, manage and mitigate risks associated with the account - both technical and commercial.
• Lead the daily calls with the customers, ensuring that actions are captured and completed as appropriate.
• Work with the customers to fully implement their supplier portals into the business.
• Measuring, monitoring and reporting customer delivery performance OTIF & RFT.
• Facilitate cost reduction activities to ensure overall competitiveness.
• Work with Production Controller and Production management to ensure schedule adherence.
• Monitor and review sales schedule and forecast upcoming monthly sales.
• Work with supply chain to ensure procurement of materials required to support production and NPI requirements.
• Build strong working relationships with the internal customers to ensure clear requirements.
• Supplier portal order confirmations acknowledgements
• Facilitate cost reduction activities to ensure overall competitiveness.
• Work with Supply Chain Manager to develop alternative supplier source for materials and co-ordinate qualification plans with engineering for approval of new suppliers and parts.
• Hold regular progress reviews with Production Control & Production management.
• Working with Quality team and support improvement actions.
• Ensure you and your team adhere to Company policies and procedures as well as relevant legislation and regulations.
• Training and information deployment where necessary.
• Liaison with employees and managers.
• Business Project management - where required

The successful applicant will have some understanding of lean manufacturing principles and project management, and be computer literate in MS Word, Excel, and MRP systems.

Good organisational & time management skills are also requirements of this position.

Skills:

Customer account management experience.
Experience working in an aerospace manufacturing environment under AS9100 Rev D is essential.
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, and MRP systems.
Knowledge of CNC Machining and metal fabrications beneficial but not essential.
Good organisational, communication & time management skills.
