The Royal Town Planning Institute is looking for a Communications officer with a specialism in Social Media to play an integral role in growing our audience and explaining the importance of the planning profession. Promoting the value that our members bring to society is core to our corporate strategy and this role is a key element of that.

This is an opportunity to join a growing team at an important time for the profession and the institute. You will work alongside our media relations officer, web manager and public affairs officers to ensure that all of RTPI's activity is shared with as many people as possible.

You will have a good understanding of how social media can be used to reach multiple audiences and which channels are best for which message. You will also be able to integrate social media activity into wider campaign work and support media activity where required. You will also have a good understanding of the risks that social media can present and how to mitigate that.

The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is the leading membership body in the UK for professional planners. We work closely with the Westminster government influencing policy, legislation and priorities for the built environment. Our priority is to help the public understand the value that planning brings to society and the positive impact it has on communities around the world.

RTPI has a positive, supportive and inclusive work environment that actively operates a policy of helping its employees at all levels to achieve professional growth. We seek to foster a collaborative and respectful work environment that promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion.
