We have an exciting opportunity for a Repairs and Product Test Technician to join our busy and dynamic team. The main responsibilities of this position are to process customer repairs, conduct Product Testing, and support other technician tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the product repair process, prioritising the repair workload to ensure that Company commitments in terms of warranty and maintenance agreements are achieved.
Investigate and diagnose returned products, update, and repair/refurbish where necessary.
Provide estimates to customers for repair charges
Provide customers with regular repairs status updates.
Process repair sales orders on company data-base.
Arrange for replacement equipment to be dispatched to the customer when mandated by warranty or maintenance agreements
Produce monthly repair statistics (product type/failure trends)
Product Test
Perform product tests and ensure test reports are filed correctly.
Perform sample tests of goods-in products.
Identify opportunities to improve test plans and procedures, and help to implement recommendations.
Technician Tasks, supporting Lead Technician
Maintain Production Test and Engineering Development equipment
Ensure all equipment in use is calibrated correctly, (on-site and at sub-contract assemblers)
Provide technical support to other departments in producing equipment prototypes, cables and interconnections, test harnesses, and test jigs
Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with our EN 54 Factory Production Control procedures.
Analyse and improve our QMS processes and procedures to help streamline and increase efficiency.
Any other activities that our may require in line with your duties.
The Candidate
Skills and attributes
Ability to work well within a small team
Able to understand technical information.
Attention to detail
Good computer skills: use of MS office e.g. Excel, Word
Good organisational skills
Manage own work effectively with minimal supervision
Work as part of a team and communicate well with all areas of the Company
Ability to deal with change and be prepared to help other areas of the business as when needed
Ability to follow accurately written procedures/work instructions
Preferred skills: (training can be provided)
Hand soldering / rework and inspection skills.
Ability to read Technical/Mechanical drawings
Ability to fault find to component level.
Ability to read schematics
Knowledge & Experience
Experience in computer usage
Preferred Knowledge/Experience:
Good technical background in electronic engineering
Experience of following Test Procedures
Knowledge of reading Technical/Mechanical drawings is desirable
Customer services
Education and qualifications
5 GCSEs grade A-C including Mathematics and English
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical/Electrical BTEC, HNC, ONC
City and Guilds in Telecoms and Engineering
Or the equivalent level of education
