Information about the school

Great Oaks Small School is a small independent (secondary) school with charitable status, situated in a semi-rural site, in attractive converted farm buildings, on the outskirts of Minster in Kent. Established in 2001, the school moved to its present location in August 2006.

We provide a unique education for students with a wide range of abilities who have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) or Social Communication Disorder (SCD), either with or without high anxieties.

We are a co-education community and aim to provide a holistic education which ensures our students leave as well-rounded intellectual, moral, social, aesthetic and confident young people. We support our students in gaining qualifications that are appropriate to their individual needs and aspirations.

Great Oaks is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Safe recruitment checks will be carried out in accordance to statutory requirements for the successful candidate.

All applicants are required to fully complete the application form only. CVs are not required. Please enclose full contact details of two references including email addresses. These must be recent. We will ask for references from all candidates who are shortlisted. If an appointment is made, this will be subject to both references being received. We may contact any previous employer listed on your form to clarify any information. Shortlisting will be based on the applicants suitability for the post linked to the job description and person specification. Please make sure your application matches these requirements. Your standard of English and attention to detail will be taken into consideration when we view your application form.

Our School and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
