Are you a Design Manager with a background working on major utility infrastructure projects?
Our client has an exciting opportunity for you to join their project on a permanent basis in Central London taking on the responsibility of the utilities design scope on their 1.5bn infrastructure project whist reporting to the Design Lead.
You will be required to have a background working with a main contractor taking projects from cradle to grave. Your previous work history should demonstrate commitment to long term projects and employers.
You will also be required to fulfil the following day to day duties -
*Guide the development of the design to achieve safe, buildable, operational and maintainable assets.
*Ensure a suitable regime of intervention and verification to deliver the necessary technical assurance, particularly where scope is progressively fixed and assured.
*Consult with Utilities engineers within the joint venture, parent companies, client, supply chain (including Early Contractor Involvement) and particularly within the utilities companies to ensure support for proposals, and validate best practise.
*Develop an approach to design driven by value and collaborative working with the Design team, Construction team and the supply chain. Ensure culture and behaviours meet the Construction Partner Objectives in collaboration with all parties, as described in WI830 (Collaboration).
*Maintain an uncompromising commitment to safety.
*Support the review of major Assurance deliverables.
*Review and approve key technical documents, particularly design reports and specifications.
*Support the Design Managers in review and approval of all other Utilities submissions to the client and/or third parties.
*Ensure appropriate levels of independent checking.
*Review key technical interfaces with adjacent contracts or existing third party assets, as well as interfaces with other utilities.
*Ensure that technical issues are identified, escalated and resolved as efficiently as possible.
*Verify discipline competence and undertake surveillance of project design processes.
*Ensure compliance with Project Requirements and Works Information constraints.
*Protection of Design Vision and Employer's Objectives
*Ensure exemplary quality and sustainability standards.
*Provide technical support to quality and design processes including change control, request for information, non-conformance and defect notices.
*Provide technical support to the construction team to produce and review Inspection & Test Plans and associated documentation, and ensure the technical adequacy of Action Plans which detail the actions, procedures and contingency measures to be followed in the event that the monitoring system shows unacceptable levels of deformation/movement as a result of the works.
*Confirm the technical acceptability of proposed materials/samples, pressure tests and similar technical hold points.
*Relevant degree in civil engineering or similar
