*Job Purpose*

Reporting to the General Manager you will be responsible for the programming of the gym, studios and outdoor exercise areas and for maintaining excellent standards and service for all Members using these areas of the Health Club. You will lead and motivate your staff at all times, keeping up to date with all fitness and group exercise trends.

*Weekdays 6.00am to 9.30pm*

*Saturdays 6.30am to 8.30pm*

*Sundays 7.00am to 8.30pm*

*Bank Holidays 7.30am to 8.30pm*

*Job Description*

* Lead day-to-day operations on the gym floor and group exercise programme, monitoring standards of cleanliness, professionalism and member interaction.

* Monitor, track and develop personal training figures, inductions and programmes/re-programming

* Ensure adequate gym floor cover and member service provision daily, allocating gym floor cover periods on ESP.

* Develop gym instructor, personal training and group exercise instructor skills by coaching and mentoring when appropriate and necessary.

* Complete initial consultations and programme updates as and when they are booked and ensure that any exercise routine prescribed is both safe and effective.

* Generate and motivate member usage through gym challenges (minimum of 6 per year) and programme reviews.

* Complete personal training sessions, up to a maximum of 10 sessions (additional remuneration per session) in your 'contracted working hours' and 10 sessions (additional £25.00 per session) in your 'own time' outside your contracted 40 hours.

* Complete fitness classes as part of the timetable where appropriate up to a maximum of 2 per week (excluding covering classes)

* Ensure that any information or materials produced for members (i.e. programme cards, timetables) are clearly written/printed and easy to understand.

* Keep up to date with the latest fitness trends and innovations.

* Ensure members, guests and staff, observe club rules and enforce them where necessary.

* Ensure all Health and Safety policies and procedures are up to date and are always enforced.

* Provide support for front of house team as and when required to do so.

* Assisting in the recruitment, selection, training and development of all staff.

* Conduct monthly job chats and twice-yearly appraisals with all fitness instructors and personal trainers.

* Complete monthly staff payroll for all gym hours, personal training and group exercises sessions.

* Consult with all group fitness instructors regarding the collection of monthly invoices, reviewing classes and feedback to member comments.

* Advertise the group fitness timetable in the appropriate manner.

* Maintain and update ESP class and booking templates as and when required

* Monitor class non-attendance records and reinforce the process of non-attending members

* Induct all new group exercise instructors by explaining the booking procedure, class etiquette and guidelines/ procedures whilst ensuring that a signed agreement document including insurance and qualifications is retained.

* Respond to comment cards and member feedback regarding all gym and studio matters.

* Monitor studio cleaning, class hygiene, and maintain all studio equipment.

* Manage a cover list for classes and ensure cover for all teacher absentees/holidays.

* Complete Group Exercise statistics on a monthly basis.

* Attend the Health Club Forum Meetings on quarterly basis.

* Perform reasonable duties as specified by the General Manager, Health Club Manager, Assistant Health Club Manager, Chief Executive or member of the Club's senior management team


* Previous gym team management plus experience and knowledge of studio coordination

* Excellent interpersonal skills.

* Inspirational leadership.

* Able to demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

* Passion for fitness and group exercise
