This is an excellent opportunity for someone keen to develop their administrative and finance skills. Full training and support will be given but a bookkeeping qualification or similar and previous experience in a finance department is essential. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate transferable, organisational and administrative skills, as outlined in the person specification below.

The accurate recording of transactions and processing payments is a key element of the role and a high level of attention to detail is required. We expect the Finance Assistant to approach tasks with a questioning nature and be responsible for assisting with the efficient running of the finance function. The Finance Assistant will also help with some general admin and be involved in the wide range of tasks that are required from the busy finance department. In a small team, the Finance Assistant reports to the Managing Director.

Duties & Responsibilities

It is anticipated that the Finance Assistant will be very organised in respect of working hours and be able to prioritise their own time and day to day tasks confidently. They must be self-motivated and able to work remotely on their own initiative with minimal supervision. In particular he or she would be expected to carry out the following:

• Processing payments and sending relevant remittances

• Reconciling supplier statements

• Bank Reconciliations

• Checking & approving purchase invoices

• maintaining purchase and sales ledger

• Raising sales invoices and credit control

• Assisting with company cash flow

• Processing of weekly and monthly payroll

• Processing pensions calculations

• Reconciling and processing PAYE payments

• Completing direct debit and other finance related forms

• Agreeing prices and contracts for utility bills

• Ensuring we have accurate updated utility bills for all properties

• Checking of outstanding sales invoices and sending statements to customers

• Assisting with month-end management accounts preparation

• All other admin / finance tasks given on an ad-hoc basis

Person Specification

In particular, the successful candidate will need to possess:

• Bookkeeping Qualification, similar qualification or equivalent experience

• Excellent IT skills, with experience using accounts software systems and Microsoft Excel

• Knowledge of Finance processes and transactions

• Consistently high attention to detail and accuracy

• Committed to providing accurate financial information in a timely manner

• Resourceful with ability to problem solve

• Strong organisational and planning capability

• Ability to multi-task and prioritise workloads

• Clear understanding of data Integrity and sensitivity/confidentiality

• A friendly, efficient, and professional manner

• A proactive and enthusiastic approach to work and life

Job Title: Finance Assistant

Location: Remote working is optional with 2 Days per week min. to be worked in our office in Manchester.

Reporting To: Managing Director

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri, 9-5pm (with flexibility if required

Salary: £22,000 - £24,000 a year, Full-time, Permanent
