Leonardo has a fantastic opportunity for a Project Accountant to join the team at Capability Green, Luton. The Project Accountant will provide support to the Financial Controller Combat Air in the overall financial management of the projects that make up the Combat Air sector within the Electronic Warfare (EW) line of business.

The Project Accountant will provide financial support and advice to all the Combat Air integrated project teams (IPTs), as well as acting as an interface into the site central Finance team. They will also ensure the financial integrity of all Combat Air projects and compliance to the Company's Financial Policies and Accounting Standards.

The main activities for the Project Accountant will be completion of month end accounting including actuals reporting and forecast updates within very tight timescales, attendance at the various CSR/PSR reviews and subsequent updates to Trading plans and Reconciliation sheets, annual update to the IBP. In addition ensure financial support is provided to bids for future prospects.

The role will entail working within the relevant project IPT's including supporting Programme Managers, Project Managers, Bid team members, Planners and the relevant Commercial and Procurement support functions.

Key Responsibility Areas

Ensuring that cashflow is maximised on all projects by timely submission of invoices and liaising with the IPT's to ensure prompt collection of debts, and WSP are paid once the cash has been
received from the customer.
Ensure that the Workshare Partner invoice payments register is always current
Preparation of project Sales Trading Plans with the appropriate Project Manager or Project Engineering Manager.
Provide financial support to Integrated Business Management activity and the monthly contract review process and support the Programme Managers Contract Status Reviews.
Assist in the posting of Journals to SAP and help increase the project accuracy in SAP, working with the project IPT.
Update the rolling IPT financial forecasts for orders, sales, revenue, margin, cash, & WIP using information gathered as part of the contract review process, or IPT discussions, analysing risks and opportunities against the forecast.
Support the financial input required as part of the bidding process for future business, including update of cash flow information.
Support the annual update of the IBP and phased budget.
Ad hoc tasks as directed by Financial Controller Combat Air and/or the Head of Finance EW.Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

Academic Qualifications - Degree level or equivalent/Professional qualified/part qualified
Skills - Experience in data analysis and interpretation, Previous experience in using SAP an advantage but not essential.
Proven ability to manage own time and meet deadlines is essential
IT Literate -strong Excel skills
Excellent communication skills
Understanding of the basics of contract accounting & commercial awareness
Previous experience of working as part of a team
Able to communicate confidently within both the IPT and Finance teams.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Flexibility in the role due to changing demands.
Ability long term to progress to a more senior role in the Project Finance community.
Working to tight deadlines
Flexibility to work outside of bandwidth hours to meet monthly and quarterly deadlines
