TERM TIME - 32 hours per week

· To promote the aims and objectives of the nursery

· To contribute to the learning and development programme and plan suitable activities and experiences for the age range of children in the room, alongside other staff

· Oversee and review all children's records and documentation ensuring staff team within room are maintaining standards

· To keep records of development on assigned key children

· Work alongside parents of children with special needs to give full integration in the nursery and provide physical, emotional, intellectual guidance as appropriate alongside the SENCO.

· Recording accidents, medication and any other documentation required by the nursery. Ensure the Manager oversee documentations before parents are informed

· View the nursery as a "whole" where support or aiding others will be most utilised, and be constantly aware of the needs of children

· To develop a relationship with assigned key children as a key worker including assigned children as a 2nd key worker in the absence of a staff member.

· Changing children nappies as required and support children who are toilet training by liaising with parents

· To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development

· To have an additional role as an assigned coordinator for example SENCO, First Aider etc.

· Participate in house training and support students (i.e. placements and volunteers), by giving guidance and support

· To be aware of the high profile of the nursery and to uphold its standards at all times.

· Liaise with the local authority, outside agencies and other professionals associated with the nursery.

· Undertake other duties and responsibilities may be determined from time to time by the Manager

· To assist the Manager in showing parents around the nursery facilities and sending out information

· To lead a team of professional workers and to ensure good practice at all times

· To assist the Manager in setting and implementing objectives and policy for the nursery

· To assist with the planning and organisation of staffing schedules and holiday rotas to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained in accordance with Ofsted

· To assist with the implementation of administrative procedures involved with registration, place allocation, and other related matters

· To assist with the development and implementation of systems to monitor and record child development

· To assist with the preparation and maintenance of materials and equipment

· To be responsible for the health and safety standards appropriate for the needs of young children and ensuring staff compliance and awareness

· To ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.

· To assist with staff development and training

· To assist the Manager in the supervision of training of students in placement within the nursery

· Liaise with parents, other family members and staff to help ensure that the particular needs of children are met and that parental choice is considered in terms of care given

· Assist the Manager with the efficient upkeep of the building and maintenance/stock of equipment, furnishings and fittings

· Maintaining staff awareness of fire drill in accordance with the code of practice

· To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, planning meetings, monthly staff meetings, etc.

· To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time-to-time by the Manager

· To deputise for the Manager in his/her absence
