Founded in 2016 and based on the Warwick University campus, The National Mathematics and Science College is an elite STEM college, setup to teach a sixth form curriculum focusing exclusively on the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics subjects. Despite its recent founding, the college has already achieved the incredibly impressive positioning of third in the UK for academic achievement, with 93% of its students achieving A*-A at A-level in 2021, and almost 20% of students gaining a place at Oxford or Cambridge. The College is currently small in size, with about 60 students, however has ambitions to grow to around 150 over the course of the next 3-5 years. The position of Finance and Operations Director will play an integral part in this growth strategy.

The College is now looking for an outstanding candidate to join the senior leadership team and lead the finance and support services in the College. This post will be an interesting, varied and exciting balance of operating the school's finances alongside running the estates and overseeing health and safety and HR. The successful candidate will enjoy being part of a very collaborative working environment, with the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of college life. The key responsibilities of the role include:


  • Finance

  • Income generation

  • Facilities and premises

  • Health and Safety

  • IT

  • HR

  • Non - educational risk management



The ideal candidate should demonstrate a successful career in the commercial world or education, whether this be in finance, general management or a similar discipline; strong financial skills are a critical part of this role however. Additionally the candidate will be an outstanding communicator, both written and oral and demonstrate the ability to inspire all stakeholders; the assessment of this skill will be a pivotal part of the selection process. Organisational skills are additionally important but these will need to be complemented by creativity, flexibility, and a passion for making a difference. Lastly, the individual must demonstrate the desire to participate and assist in driving the ambitious growth over the forthcoming years.
