You will need to be flexible, organised, work well under pressure and have a positive, can do attitude. You need to enjoy working in a busy, challenging environment, be able to manage multiple competing priorities and deliver against tight deadlines. You will have excellent communication skills, be an enthusiastic educator and have proven skills in supporting staff to reach their maximum potential.

Key elements of the post are:

  • Be responsible for the procurement, storage, dispensing and supply of medicines from the Pharmacy Department, FVRH and associated locations.
  • Represent the pharmacy team at multidisciplinary forums within NHS Forth Valley; and at regional and national level and across interface boundaries.
  • Act as professional lead for pharmacy technicians and support staff across the whole system of the pharmacy service in NHS Forth Valley

The pharmacy service within NHS Forth Valley is highly regarded across the organisation with staff working closely within multi-disciplinary teams. You will join the Pharmacy Joint Leadership Team where a key component of the strategy centres around integration and opportunities to support the organisation through recovery and remobilisation. The department is forward thinking and constantly seeking improvement. The Pharmacy Department makes use of modern technologies including robotics. We have implemented Hospital Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (HEPMA) throughout the health board, keeping us at the forefront of healthcare provision.

We are a friendly, dedicated and supportive team. Recent team building activities include cake club, social events, UR1 in a million awards, investment in a department-wide coaching and development programme and regularly celebrating successes in our teams. The hospital, which is situated by woods and lochs, provides many activities to support healthy lives for staff such as yoga and cycling clubs.
