Montessori Teacher

We are a Montessori school that is looking for a qualified Montessori Teacher. This position is ideal for the teacher who is passionate about working with children and is looking for the opportunity to work in a positive, supportive work environment.

The Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing creative and learning activities for children, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed.

This is a term time only position so will offer 12 weeks paid holiday, candidates enrolled in Montessori Training may also apply if they are looking to complete their Internship. Or someone that has a BA in early years education or CACHE level 2 / 3 in early years educationa and is passionate about working with children.

Starting salary: £23'000-£25'000pa |+ 12 weeks paid holiday a year (35 hours a week)

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and implement Montessori curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards
  • Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
  • Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, daily updates, weekly newsletters and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
  • Ensure a healthy classroom environment - including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
  • Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers.
  • Document student progress through on-line record keeping program.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

  • Montessori Teaching qualification from UK or overseas
  • Strong work ethic and desire for long term employment.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
  • A strong understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
