Job Title: Nursery Nurse

Hours: 40 hours per week on a rota basis

Responsible to: Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager, Third in Charge, Room Leader and Proprietors

Responsible for: Children at the Nursery

Purpose of the job:

Provide safe, High Quality Care and Education for the children on a daily basis.
To fulfil legal and statutory requirements as stated by the governing body OFSTED, EYFS, Safeguarding, Fire Safety Regulations, Health and Safety Regulations, Local Authority Regulations, Food Safety.
To be responsible for the care, welfare, health, safety and security of all children within your room.
To assist all members of staff in your room on a day to day basis.
To contribute to and implement the Nursery's policies and procedures.
To be committed to continuous professional development and promote this within the Nursery.
To be a positive role model for staff, parents and children at all times.

Main Duties:
To participate in the smooth running of the classroom.
To continuously monitor and recommend improvements for quality in all working areas to the Room Leader / Management.
To work together with staff to ensure that all policies and procedures are followed.

To plan appropriate activities, work and programmes for the children in partnership with the staff team and Room Leader.
To be responsible for the planning and documentation of the Early Years Foundation Stage for your key children, ensuring that learning outcomes are being attained for the children.
To ensure that all documentation is accurately completed and up to date.
To complete assessments / reports on children's work and development.
To involve children, parents and carers in the curriculum and ensure effective communication at all times.
To work together with the staff team and the Room Leader in the preparation of resources/ materials for planned activities and displays.
To ensure that personal, physical, social, spiritual, emotional, cultural and moral needs are adequately addressed for your key children and those children within the group and to be actively involved in supporting children in their achievements of planned objectives and goals.
Liaise closely with parents and carers ensuring that the children's needs are recognised and met.
Advise the Room Leader / Management of any concerns e.g. over children, parents, staff or health and safety issues, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
To keep confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.
To liaise with staff from other rooms to ensure the smooth transition of children from room to room.
To attend in-service training courses and meetings as required and cascade information to other staff.
To monitor stock levels of consumables and to order items as they may be required.
To manage the cleaning and hygiene within your room and the nursery as a whole, as part of the staff team.
To undertake the administration of First Aid as required.
Conduct room inspections and risk assessments as required.
To ensure correct use of equipment in the Nursery and encourage staff, parents and children to care for Nursery facilities and resources.
To contribute to the social and extra-curricular activities of the Nursery and assist with their organisation as required.
To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Room Leader, Management team, in accordance with the nursery's objectives
