We partner with Arup to support contingent recruitment processes. On behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Site Engineer on a 5 month contract in Gloucester

Role Description

Ground investigation duration

Five months initial site works with three follow up periods of up to 20 weeks to complete works currently constrained by land ownership and ecological issues.

Job description

The following is the scope for the role:

Full time (site based) technical supervision of the GI - ensure that the technical requirements of the Specification are addressed;
Prior arrangements for access with landowners to be made by Arup but during the work the role will require liaison with landowners to notify of access, obtain satisfaction on reinstatement carried out and dealing with issues arising from works;
Check logging of soil and rock samples to BS5930:2015;
Resolution of technical issues encountered during the works i.e. drilling methodologies, flush, core recovery;
Reporting of ground conditions identified during drilling/excavation;
Provision of groundwater installations with agreement from Arup;
Scheduling of geotechnical laboratory testing (with review of schedules to be conducted by Arup);
Geo-environmental scheduling to be conducted by Arup but reporting on any visual or olfactory signs of contamination to be provided as part of ground condition reporting;
Daily records (work completed including installations and backfilling, reinstatement completed, work scheduled, plant utilised on site;
Continual update to BoQ during works to assess final remeasure of the works;
Review of draft logs received during fieldwork period.Proposed role requires the following:

Locally based (no overnight accommodation);
Chartered engineering geologist with three years post chartership experience (ideally ground investigation-based experience - supervision and logging);
Experience in the supervision of geophysical investigations (ground based and down hole) to enable resolution of issues; Diversity at Arup:
