At Kedleston Group, our vision is simple, every provision we operate will be recognised as 'outstanding' in every way. We will never be the biggest, but we will lead, and others will follow.
Wings School Cumbria, part of Kedleston Group Limited, is an independent specialist day school and children's home in Milnthorpe for children and young people aged between the ages of 9 and 17. We support and care for children and young people who have identified social, emotional and mental health needs. They may also have learning difficulties such as autistic spectrum disorders including Asperger's Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, moderate learning difficulties and other specific learning difficulties.
We look for people to join our staff team who have the creativity and enthusiasm needed to deliver the best outcomes for the children and young people.
As a Care Worker at Wings School Cumbria, you will be an integral part of our team who put the children and young people at the heart of everything we do. You will provide a stimulating environment, conducive to the educational, personal and social development of the children as outlined on their education, health and care plans (EHCP). You will be a Key Worker for a child or small groups of children offering appropriate levels of support, guidance and care and you will maintain regular contact with the parents/carers of our children and young people, under the direction of senior staff.
Ideally, for this role, we are looking for someone who has experience of working within a children's home setting, is passionate about supporting young people and holds, or is working towards a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent. If you don't have the experience or qualifications yet, but share our commitment to developing confident and capable young people and making a difference to their lives by meeting their educational, health and social care needs in structured, nurturing school and home provisions, we would love to hear from you. We will fund your level 3 qualification and provide the support you need to successfully achieve it. If you achieve it within 12 months, you'll also get a £1000 bonus!
In return we offer a competitive salary and sleep-in shift payments as well as generous annual leave entitlement, a comprehensive induction programme so you can hit the ground running, opportunities for continued professional development and training, contributions to your pension, and a friendly, passionate and committed team of likeminded colleagues. We also offer employee perks that includes a cycle to work scheme, laptop loans, discounts on shopping, cinema trips, domestic goods and services, birthday treats, long service and employee of the month awards, OFSTED bonuses, employee assistance and counselling service, £500 refer-a-friend bonus and we will cover the cost of your eye examination.
Kedleston Group Limited is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its children and young people and we expect all staff to share this commitment. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. You will be expected to engage in annual safeguarding training, be familiar with key policies and ensure you know the steps to take should be made aware of a safeguarding or child protection concern. You will remain vigilant and act swiftly if you have concerns about a child and be an appropriate role model for both children and colleagues at all times.
The successful candidate is required to provide references and will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS check. We are an equal opportunities employer welcoming applications from all sections of the community. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020
