About the role
Here at Cavendish Nuclear we're looking to recruit an EC&I Designer to join the Process team working within our nuclear business unit in Birchwood, Warrington. We are a part of the FTSE 250 Index as a major Defence and Engineering global organisation - Babcock International, and are based at a number of sites in the UK and overseas.
Our business continues to win new work and grow at a significant pace; as a result we are recruiting for talented, enthusiastic and driven engineers. As a EC&I Designer you'll be working on exciting large-scale nuclear design, manufacture and support projects.
Your role will be to ensure definition of design solution(s) and deliverables to required standards, consistent with whole lifecycle from concept through to in service support. You will have a good understanding of engineering and design practices as relevant to a design discipline including appropriate CAD skills, written and verbal communications skills, and a sound understanding of Risk Management.
This role generates a wide range of common or complex design situations and problems or detail for assemblies, components or systems. You will apply knowledge to develop design solutions to a wide range of common or complex design situations & problems under limited technical supervision. You will be fully aware of and adhere to Health & Safety standards and be fully familiar with all authorised documentation, Good Practice Guides and ISO standards.
What do I need to do the role?
You will need:
ONC/HNC/HND (or equivalent) OR BTEC National Certificate/Diploma (or equivalent) OR appropriate apprenticeship of specialisation.
Relevant industry experience.
Knowledge of CAD tools.
Knowledge of General Engineering Drawing Practice.
Incorporated Engineer Status.
ICF (Integrated Competency Framework) to be demonstrated or worked towards.We would also like you to have the following:
Be a member of a relevant Professional Institute with breadth and depth of experience in a range of commercial or defence projects.Lastly, you will have excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines.
What else do I need to know?
* The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
