Procurement Category Manager

Flexible location - This role can be based on an agile basis out of any of the UK offices nationwide

Reporting into the Senior Procurement & Supply Chain Relationship Manager, the Category Manager will have responsibility for multiple categories, being responsible for identifying and pursuing a strategic sourcing agenda which maximises the contribution of the spend to the business through active support of key stakeholders and budget-holders with responsibility for expenditure and supplier relationships across the Group. You will support global initiatives that seek to aggregate spend and leverage greater value through internationalisation activities, exploring pan-group opportunities where it is feasible and appropriate. An accomplished negotiator, you will identify, evaluate and implement cost-reduction, value-enhancing and/or risk mitigation opportunities, managing the RFx process as required in accordance with Procurement Policy, working closely with colleagues from other departments to manage organisational expenditure, aggregate spend via preferred suppliers, consolidate the supply base, and develop continuous improvement programmes for designated categories, taking ownership of contract negotiations, performance management and exit planning.

Engaging with stakeholders, you will proactively identify areas of actual, potential or perceived risk within the supply chain and implement, monitor and review appropriate actions to remove or mitigate such risks. You will be comfortable with collating and interpreting information from disparate sources, and providing briefing notes to colleagues on your findings, including making appropriate recommendations for courses of action. Development of robust policies and procedures will be paramount, driving group-wide compliance, reviewing, reporting and reducing the frequency of outliers, and adapting procedures to maintain fitness-for-purpose as the business evolves. A methodical and structured thinker, proactive management of contract coverage and supplier credentials will be supported by an in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and codes of practice, you will work closely with colleagues in other functions to categorise spend and suppliers appropriately, driving a culture of continuous improvement. Contractual exposure will be identified before, during and post-implementation, and ensuring appropriate supply chain assurance in accordance with the governance framework will be enabled by a systematic approach to due diligence working closely with relevant stakeholders.

Person Specification:
*Extensive Procurement experience within a complex and fast-paced environment
*Proven track-record of successfully executing programs within diverse categories to deliver quality, service, risk and commercial benefits
*An appropriate professional qualification such as MCIPS
*Extensive knowledge of the principles and practical application of category management and strategic sourcing tools and techniques
*Able to understand complex contractual, legal and commercial issues and consider various routes to resolution of issues
*Substantial experience and exemplary knowledge of supply chain risk mitigation and due diligence processes and techniques
*Experience of collating, manipulating and interpreting data, conducting high level assessments and drawing conclusions to support recommendations for improvement

You will ensure that a proactive, creative and challenging approach to managing third party spend is constantly applied, being a champion for risk-management within the supply chain, utilising relevant information to establish innovative ways of working to deliver value for money for the business, reduce costs without compromising quality, mitigate risk, protect shareholder value and enhance the company brand.
