Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) have a very exciting opportunity to join them on a permanent basis. We are looking to appoint a Community Safety Engagement Lead.

The purpose of the role is to be the strategic advisor to the GMFRS Leadership Team on all matters relating to community safety and community engagement.

As the Community Safety Engagement Lead you will work collaboratively to ensure GMFRS and partners respond effectively to fire education is schools and other educational settings including the cadets. Alongside this you will be steering the development and promotion of GMFRS resources/programmes, as well Bury Safety Centre to address areas of risk and those specific groups who are at higher risk of fire, crime and educational under achievement.

You will do this by:
  • Development, implementation and evaluation of Community Safety Education Strategy.
  • Lead and direct the management of a staff and volunteer group who are responsible for the development, delivery, evaluation and quality assurance of the Community Safety programme
  • Ensure GMFRS Prevention and Community Safety Education is promoted across relevant strategic partnerships e.g. schools and education and uptake is monitored and evaluated
  • Negotiate, manage and monitor (including financial monitoring) contracts and instigate and mange poor performance procedures where required.
  • Work with Head of Prevention, GMCA, external partners and Local Authorities to support and contribute to the wider Greater Manchester approach to community education

To be considered you will have:
  • Professional qualification and/or educated to Degree level in Youth Work, Education or Social Care
  • Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH and/or NEBOSH
  • Management experience (ideally with relevant qualification)
  • Experience of developing, managing and implementing policies and procedures in relation to the safeguarding, safety and welfare of children and adults at risk.
  • Experience of managing community safety programmes
  • Experience of planning, developing and managing a range of youth and adult engagement schemes and programmes across diverse cultures.
