About the Role:
In line with our vision to contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality education and training, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a homebased Functional Skills Academy Tutor to join our reputable and growing Adult Learning team.

As an Academy Tutor, you will take full ownership and responsibility for the assessment, marking and feedback of Learner work within your Academy. You will draw on your own occupational experience to support each Learner through their journey in order for them to increase their skill set, gain new knowledge and achieve a nationally recognised qualification.

About you:
You will be a passionate and ambitious individual who is not only a subject expert within Functional Skills, you will also be committed to the delivery of high-quality education within your subject area. You will also hold relevant assessing, verifying and teaching qualifications and have practical experience of assessing, verifying and teaching either in a classroom environment or through distance learning.

Main Duties
Effective implementation of The Skills Network assessment, marking and feedback standards within your Academy ensuring consistency across all Learners

Full ownership and responsibility for the assessment, marking and feedback of
Learner work within your allocated Academy (in relation to a set weekly minimum
target) in line with organisational KPIs/expected quality standards

Full ownership and responsibility for the assessment, marking and feedback of
Learner work within our Commercial Tutor Service offering for Functional Skills (in
relation to a set weekly minimum target) in line with organisational KPIs/expected
quality standards

Review learning resources as part of standardisation meeting activities with our
Programme Leads. From this, suggest possible amends to the resources to our
product development team for further review

Support Programme Leads to maintain Tutor Guides making amends as necessary
following standardisation meetings and ensure the Quality Team have a most up to
date copy to circulate to all Tutors/Moderators

Assist with the risk management of Learners and/or partners (when appropriate),
providing guidance, support and assessment as required to increase overall progress
and achievement rates

Carry out scheduled Tutor live chats, webinars and virtual classrooms for the
Academy to help and support Learners' development and progress

Carry out a weekly minimum of 5 internal moderation reports on new and existing
Tutors (where qualified)

Support the Quality Team and Programme Leads with External Quality Assurance
visits for qualifications within the Academy

Work closely with the Quality Team undertaking Quality of Education reviews as
defined in the Quality Calendar 20/21

Support Programme Leads with the running of standardisation meetings

Support with marking of initial assessments for Level 3 Loans Learners.
