We are on the hunt for a talented Web Developer to join our team in a support role with responsibilities to both the IT and Software Engineering team.

This is an exciting opportunity offering the unique chance to learn from experienced IT and Software engineers and the opportunity to work on our many in-house bespoke built software solutions – as well as some modern open source code bases such as Laravel.

We currently work with over 450 charities and other organisations across the UK. These range from national charities such as Cancer Research UK, Oxfam, Marie Curie, Sue Ryder and Amnesty International, to regional charities such as adult and children’s hospices, down to smaller local charities. In addition, we also work with several sports clubs ranging from Premier League Football Clubs, such as Everton, through to local Sunday league sides. We also provide services to large corporate clients, including, Sodexo, New Look, United Utilities and Screwfix.

The Junior Web Developer Opportunity:

You will work closely with our team of experienced Software and IT engineers who will support you and encourage your own skill development.

We are looking for somebody able to work alongside our busy team, primarily to help with the various web development jobs we have ongoing, these have a heavy focus on front end development so HTML/CSS/Javascript/jQuery are essential skills to a good level. The role will also include backend development, developing bespoke reporting and support queries.

The Day-to-Day:

+ Working within the IT and Software Development team, in close coordination with Marketing and Client Accounts.
+ Create accessible and compliant templates in HTML5 and CSS3, generally within Bootstrap framework and Laravel Blade template systems.
+ Create great user experiences and functionality using Javascript/jQuery.
+ Use PHP/MySQL to create new features, functionality and reports in any of our bespoke built software, ranging from Lottery, Raffles/Prize Draw, ePOS, eCommerce style payment gateways and more.
+ Must have knowledge of best practices, OWASP and general programming best practice. Our systems are audited daily, and security is paramount.
+ You must ensure all your code is submitted to our version control system (git).
+ First Line Support
+ You will be requested to provide troubleshooting and support for our range of applications alongside our other engineers.
+ As we are a small company you will be required at times to provide desktop support, including computer maintenance, network troubleshooting and supporting associated peripherals.
+ These responsibilities are likely to grow and evolve according to your skill set throughout your time with us.

About You:

+ Be highly IT literate, with experience using a variety of software applications.
+ Have a wording knowledge of an IDE of their choice, however a license for PHPStorm will be provided and tends to be our standard in house choice.
+ IT / Web related degree beneficial but not essential.
+ Must be highly proficient with HTML5/CSS3 – coding responsive layouts for modern browsers.
+ Must be able to augment website functionality with Javascript/jQuery.
+ Must be proficient with PHP/MySQL as backend work will be necessary and there will be crossover.
+ Linux/CentOS Server experience beneficial.
+ Have excellent attention to detail.
+ Can deal with difficult situations and take personal responsibility for issues and resolutions.
+ Have an interest in pursuing a career in web development or software engineering.

+ Be happy to be office based and carry out administrative tasks
