I'm working with a national private healthcare provider who are looking for agency staff to pick up ad hoc and block booking work at their services. This site is based in Wirral and they currently require a Surgical First Assistant (RGN/ODP) who is experienced in medical and surgical settings to support their shifts on an ad hoc and agency basis. The hospital in question is a specialist in general surgery, cosmetics as well as offering patients access to other healthcare and surgeries. The Healthcare and Nursing team at this service in Wirral, Merseyside consists of Nurses, ODPs, Scrub, Physiotherapists, and other allied health professionals who you will work in conjunction with to maintain a consistent delivery of person-centred care. The hospital is based just off the M53 and A551 so easily accessed via car or public transport,

Job Description
As Surgical First Assistant (RGN/ODP) in this private surgical hospital, Wirral you will be responsible for:
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team throughout the surgery
  • Assist the surgeon during the operating, select equipment, hold incisions open, stop bleeding, and support closing incision where required
  • Communicating regularly with the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team, acting as the patient's advocate
  • Providing appropriate treatment to patient until they recover from anaesthesia effects or surgery
  • Auditing, reviewing and maintaining clinical documentation
  • Monitoring and ensuring the delivery of care is clinically suitable & evidence based
  • Acting as a link between the surgical team and other parts of the hospital
The Successful Applicant
The successful Surgical First Assistant (RGN/ODP) will have the following:
  • Active & Valid NMC/HCPC Registration
  • Clear Enhanced DBS (Children's & Adults)
  • Legal right to live and work in the UK
  • Experience working in a similar setting (hospital)
As Agency Surgical First Assistant (ODP/RGN) you will be:
  • Compassionate, empathetic and understanding of patient's needs and concerns
  • Confident and competent leading a healthcare team including HCAs and students
  • Up to date with theoretical and clinical advances within the healthcare and nursing industry
  • Available to commit to regular shifts around your lifestyle
