DIRECTOR OF LBA, INTERNATIONAL TV SALES AND FORMAT LICENSING

Our client is one of the worlds largest and most successful creators, producers and distributors of outstanding entertainment brands. From prime time and serial drama to entertainment, its programmes entertain and inspire audiences around the world.

Its commercial distribution arm has a network of international sales offices and licenses hours of programmes globally.

The LBA team focuses mainly on the licensing of content and formats, as well as the acquisition of such content.

A key opportunity exists for an experienced media lawyer to provide legal and business affairs support to the business. Reporting to the EVP, you will have responsibility for all television sale and format licensing deals across the Americas (the USA and Canada) and US acquisitions of content. You will also have direct line management of a Business Affairs Executive.

Key responsibilities include:

*delivering collaboratively with the International Legal and Business Affairs team, first class business and legal affairs support on matters of key strategic, financial and reputational importance to the business

*responsibility for the management of the US team with particular focus on ensuring the continued development of the Business Affairs Executive as a direct

*ensuring that the highest standards of corporate governance, risk management and compliance with law, policy and regulation are observed at all times.

Applicants will have:

*detailed understanding of contract, commercial and intellectual property law, particularly television rights in respect of tv and formats distribution and of the structures and systems within which broadcasters, producers, distributors (whether traditional or nontraditional e.g. digital) operate

*considerable knowledge and experience of international media environments and substantial knowledge and experience in negotiating programme sale licenses and format licenses

*drafting and negotiating contracts in a content licensing environment and managing workflow efficiently for themselves and their team

*knowledge of and previous experience in working with rights databases

*knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework within which the business operates.

This role will also take on some acquisition of content work reporting into the VP of Acquisitions. Previous experience in acquisitions is not required. This is a highly visible, varied and fast paced role and will require considerable knowledge and experience of international media environments.
