Lead DevOps / DevOps Manager -Leeds - £100k - Build something new!

I'm working with a $1Bn European fintech who are looking to break into the UK market and have big plans to establish a team of 80 people in the UK in the near year. They are looking to recruit a Lead DevOps Engineer / DevOps Manager who will be responsible for establishing their DevOps division from scratch. This will include both recruiting an initial DevOps team of 4x Engineers by Q1 2022 and defining and building their DevOps approach and tooling. This will be a rare opportunity for an ambitious DevOps lead to join a high growth $1bn business to build something from the ground up with a startup mentality but massive financial backing and growth plans.

Working closely with their Software Engineering team and within an overall corporate architecture, you will play a very influential role to set the DevOps strategy and processes, recruit the right team and define the suitable tooling for the job. Due to the stage of growth, we require someone with strong hands-on technical skills to build; deploy and manage their Cloud Native software platforms which are designed around AWS, Kubernetes and Terraform. To be considered you will have strong skills and experience in infrastructure as code provisioning and automated deployment pipelines. A focus on highly secure and highly resilient systems is essential.

We are looking for someone who has managed large projects on multi-tenant platforms with micro-services architecture. This will be a great role for an experienced DevOps Engineer looking for the next step up in their career, working in a fast-paced technology lead organisation where they can build something from the ground up. They are happy to consider applications from Senior DevOps Engineers, Lead DevOps Engineers or DevOps Managers (as long as you are still hands-on technically).

To be considered you will be a bright and talented Senior or Lead DevOps Engineer with proven hands-on experience in an AWS Cloud environment and extensive experience with Kubernetes and many of the following:

Essential skills
  • AWS - VPCs, networking, RDS, API gateways, EKS, ECS, etc.
  • Infrastructure as Code - CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • CI/CD pipelines within a micro services architecture
  • Designing and maintaining fault tolerant, highly available, high throughput, distributed, scalable systems
  • Networking concepts, protocols and security (ie. TCP/IP, HTTP, Load-balancers, proxies, TLS etc)
  • Containerisation - Kubernetes, Docker
  • Scripting for automation with Bash, Python

This will be an outstanding opportunity for the right person to grow a team from scratch and be highly influential in setting DevOps strategy and tooling.
