Salary: £36,914 - £49,000 per annum (DOE)

Are you an experienced Facilities Manager looking for your next challenge? An amazing opportunity has become available to work with one of the oldest educational organisations in the UK and they are looking for a Facilities Manager to join their team in the heart of Cambridge.

As the Facilities Manager you will be responsible for a team of 14 staff and an annual budget in excess of £750,000. You will be responsible for providing a range of services across six separate properties, including health and safety, reception, custodial, maintenance and catering, to a growing and busy customer base in the school. The school currently has over 500 post graduate student, 400 faculty and staff, several research centres and a substantial executive education business.

The ideal candidate would have a Degree level education, ideally with a Facilities Management qualification. You will have proven and significant experience of contract negotiation and the management of projects as well as managing a team.

As a Facilities Manager, your main responsibilities are:
  • Ensure that the building is presented to the highest possible standards, consistent with achieving the School's strategy and aims
  • Continually seek to improve service delivery performance and gain feedback from customers/users/clients
  • Liaison with Estate Management, Security Office and external contractors to ensure the buildings are managed effectively and efficiently
  • Manage the cleaning contract and catering services within the School
  • Recruitment, selection and induction of staff, including use of temporary staff to cover vacant posts, holidays and sickness
  • Office allocation, dealing with issues as they arise e.g. working with programme administrators and faculty to agree space allocation, preparation for conferences and seminars, determining furniture requirements
  • Responsible for the delivery of a significant amount of major and minor building work projects
  • Manage all projects and initiatives from start to completion (for example, preparation of bids and implementation of projects and initiatives for new infrastructure, services, fixtures, fittings and equipment)
    • Responsible for ensuring that the space in the School is used efficiently, is presented and maintained to a high standard and is available as required
    • Assist in developing policies and procedures for the use of facilities and services
    • Ensure that safety induction for all new staff and students are carried out
    • Meet all new staff and faculty for an individual induction session covering security, Health and Safety, risk assessment and general operational matters

The ideal Facilities Manager will have the following skills, experience and qualifications:
  • Degree level education
  • Proven experience of developing, managing and implementing facilities management strategy
  • Knowledge of building services
  • Experience of developing processes and procedures for complex technical projects
  • A proven ability to deliver multiple projects to agreed timescales
  • Excellent Team Management skills
  • Strong IT skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce accurate and professional reports
  • Customer focused
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload and work under pressure
  • Willing to work out-of-hours if required
