Summary of Role:



Maintaining and Developing Aerospace Special Processes activity primarily in the areas of Treatment lines (i.e., Chemical Processing, Surface Treatments, NDT, welding, Paint etc) Ensuring that all Special Processes are qualified to applicable industry and customer standards (NADCAP, AS9100 Rev D, EASA etc.) Working closely with Quality, Engineering and Operations functions to develop efficient and compliant process areas. Position is also responsible for the Accreditation, Assurance and Development of Manufacturing Special Process Areas

Principal responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and managing all Special Processes on site, involving but not limited to: Treatment lines, NDT, Heat treatment, Anodising (all chemical processes), Welding, Paint etc
  • Ensuring NADCAP and AS9100 Compliance of all Designated Special Process areas and being the Organisational point of contact for external bodies such as PRI.
  • Liaising with other key stakeholders to ensure plant and facilities are operationally capable and maintained
  • Ensuring all process assurance work is undertaken within agreed timeframes and cycles to uphold process compliance
  • Ensuring compliance to health and safety standards where defined
  • Liaison with the Laboratory function to ensure that all necessary analysis is completed at the agreed timescales and that any actions arising are implemented in good time
  • Ensuring responsibilities aligned to Special Process Management are initially trained out and then periodically reviewed to support high operator performance
  • Ensuring non-conformance of the special process areas are managed and that effective Root Cause and Corrective actions are implemented where required
  • Liaising with other key stakeholders to determine 'go-forward' capability and qualification requirements for other Special Process areas the business may choose to invest in (e.g., Heat Treatment, Welding etc)
  • Authoring of process documents relevant to these areas
  • Auditing and Management of all Special Process Areas including any Special Process Engineers
  • Internal Product and Process Auditing


QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:

• Bachelor's degree holder (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (technical / scientific / engineering)

Desirable:
  • Post graduate Qualifications
  • Recognised Industry Qualifications relevant to the post


EXPERIENCE:

Essential:
  • At least 5 years' Previous experience of Treatment lines (NDT, Heat treatment, Anodising (all chemical processes), welding, paint etc)
  • Familiarity with NADCAP Accreditations


Desirable:
  • Audit Management experience would be highly beneficial
  • Technical Authoring
  • Experience of leading Special Process responsibilities within businesses
  • Aerospace and/or defence Experience
  • AS 9100 Rev D experience
  • Knowledge of other Aerospace Quality frameworks (EASA Part 21G / EASA Part 145)
  • Knowledge of ERP / MRP system
  • Knowledge of CI principles and practice
