An SC Cleared SQL DBA required, inside IR35. Rate Negotiable - Remote working (UK Based)

Your new company
You will be working for a National Government Organisation, as a Database Administrator with Strong SQL skills. You will manage the data estate, ensuring the data remains confidential, integral and available and relevant to business requirements. Due to the nature of the role, all candidates will need transferrable SC Clearance.

Your new role
You will be part of a team, managing and administering the databases ideally to cover 7am-7pm. Some of the responsibilities include:
  • Administrate all current system databases, ensuring data quality is high
  • Continuously monitor databases and applications ensuring applications remain available, to SLAs/OLAs, and delivering a good user and customer experience
  • Proactively identify and resolve database issues before they impact the user/customer
  • Deliver Incident Management (Corrective Maintenance), diagnosing the root causes of incidents, developing work around and fixes, to return databases and users to an operational conditions
  • Deliver Problem Management (Preventative Maintenance) within databases, diagnosing root causes of problems, prioritising maintenance activity and developing fixes
  • Deliver Change Management (Adaptive and Perfective Maintenance), continuously seeking to improve databases and data quality
  • Implement upgrades and patches to databases, coordinating change activity, engaging with users and ensuring that upgrades are understood and appropriate.
  • Document all data bases, data interfaces and data flow diagrams, maintaining the accuracy of documentation to reflect changes and fixes
  • Support the implementation of Master Data Management and maintain a data dictionary
  • Maintain the highest standards of user and customer focus, ensuring that services are delivery to user/customer satisfaction and endeavour to routinely communicate with users/customers to promote, confidence that incidents and problems are being tackled.
  • Manage all database back-up, ETL and restoration activities.
  • Ensure the security of databases, preventing unauthorised access, unauthorised data exchange and data-loss

What you'll need to succeed
  • A solid background in database administration. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in both supporting and building SQL databases within a professional environment.
  • Windows Clustering and other HADR technologies
  • A clear support focus with evidence of time spent performing tier 2/3 support for SQL Databases.
  • Experience working within ITIL framework delivering Incident/Problem/Change Management
  • Database certification (e.g. MCSA, MCSE)
  • Experience of working within a virtualised environment, including virtualised SQL servers using VMWare
  • Experience with ODS, Data Marts, Data Warehouses and Data Lakes
  • Experience with SSIS, SSAS
  • Familiarity with QlikView and PowerBI
  • Programming knowledge (PowerShell, Python, R, JSON, XML, Java, HTML)

Candidates with current SC Clearance.
