Project Engineer - Mechanical

We are currently working with a global leader in the design, development and manufacture of acrylic-based products. The Darwen site consists of 4 plants focusing on the manufacture of cast acrylic sheet, liquid dispersions and colour.

An opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and committed individual to join the Engineering team as a Project Engineer, focusing upon Mechanical / Machinery. The role offers the chance to work within a dynamic and experienced team, whilst also further developing your existing skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

* Taking responsibility for projects from concept to delivery, including optioneering, feasibility studies, design reviews and commissioning

* Reviewing and resolving issues with existing site machine and pressure systems

* Developing an awareness of the existing interconnected infrastructure (e.g. boilers, cooling towers, hydraulics, air compressors, vacuum pumps)

* Liaising with and ensuring clear communication between internal colleagues and external suppliers

* Ensuring projects achieve their objectives, whilst also maintaining the company's priorities in relation to SHEQ

Key Skills/Experience:

* Specialist core skills in Mechanical and Machinery engineering

* Proven project management experience within a Manufacturing industry

* Understanding of mechanical and machine systems, pressure systems, material handling equipment

* Experience of working with mechanical ATEX requirements

* Multi-discipline awareness (Civil/Structural, EC&I, Process, Maintenance, Operations, etc.)

* Experience of managing installation and construction activities

* Degree/HNC/HND or other accredited qualification is desirable, however not essential depending on experience

* Strong organisational and communication skills are essential for success in this role

* A team-player who can demonstrate initiative and the ability to work with the minimum of supervision
