Stategy Education are looking for Teaching Assistants for a special school based approximately 4 miles from Cambridge City Centre, their last Ofsted was graded as 'Good'.

All the students have an EHCP and diagnosis of Autism and some will have additional needs.

You will need to be inspirational, highly supportive and have a passion for working with children with special education needs. You will be working with small groups of SEN children or on a 1:1 basis.

Duties include:

Taking on some classroom responsibilities within well- resourced classrooms

Assessing the individual needs of pupils and following their IEP's

Evaluating and reporting pupils' progress to teachers, carers and health care professionals

Managing challenging behaviour in a positive way

Making sure that each pupil can reach their full potential

These roles will involve either small group work or working with students on a 1:1 basis so you will need to have good communication skills to be able to build strong relationships.

The successful candidates will have some SEN experience within the following:

Social, Emotional and Mental Health - SEMH

Autism Spectrum Condition - ASC

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder - ADHD

Experience of de-escalation techniques, Picture Exchange Communication (PECS) and Makaton would be a distinct advantage but not necessary.
