This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role supporting and promoting a positive health and safety culture throughout Emanuel School.
The Health and Safety and Compliance Officer will be responsible for preventing accidents, injuries and health problems in the workplace as well as ensuring the school's estates team and relevant departments are prepared for an Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection.
They will work in a variety of areas, such as fire safety, occupational health, construction, safe handling of machinery and control of hazardous substances, ensuring that current health and safety legislation is adhered to by creating, implementing and monitoring health and safety policies. A significant part of the role will involve frequent auditing of the school's facilities and working practices, covering all aspects of compliance, working closely with heads of department. Audit findings and subsequent actions will be recorded and closely monitored and supported as required.
The ideal candidate will require a health and safety qualification (NEBOSH) with health and safety or regulatory compliance experience and experience of working on building projects and routine building maintenance. Broad property related legislative knowledge and building related technical knowledge is equally important.Why Emanuel?
