JSS are currently working with a well known retail/leisure business who are looking for a Technical Project Accountant to join their team. This role is a 12-month contract and the ideal candidate will be available on short notice.

Responsibilities:

· Project manage the implementation of the new Estates Management and Projects system on time and on budget, working with the 3rd party supplier as well as senior internal stakeholders

· Establish, maintain and ensure adherence to Fixed Asset policies and procedures

· Perform the month end accounting for fixed assets and leases and implement process improvements as necessary

· Maintain the Fixed Asset Accounting module of ERP system and ensure completeness of entity balance sheets with full reconciliations of designated balance sheet accounts

· Enhance the monthly reporting of fixed asset movements and develop KPIs

· Prepare PPE and Right-of-use asset notes for the Group and subsidiary financial statements and act as the main point of contact for all audit requirements for fixed and leased assets

· Provide support to the Tax department in calculations of capital allowances that can be claimed in respect of capital expenditure

· Support the Property department with reporting on capital expenditure for new sites and refurbishments

· Lead/play a key role in other process improvement projects as they arise

· Work with the wider Finance Team to deliver the team's objectives and roadmap

Essential:

· Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA)

· Prior experience of systems implementation projects

· Strong project management skills

· Good understanding of Key Financial Controls and experience of working in or with organisations with excellent control environments

· Prior experience of process improvement initiatives

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to challenge established thinking and achieve consensus

· Ability to plan, prioritise and manage workload in a fast-paced environment

· A resilient individual, who can demonstrate flexibility in approach; a fast-thinker with a desire to get the job done

· Self-motivated and able to work independently

· Challenging mindset, using training and experience to identify the need for change/improvement

· Enjoys working as part of a team and good at building relationships

· Problem solver that can identify issues and suggest and implement solutions

· Proficient in Excel

Desirable:

· Previous experience of balance sheet reconciliations

· Experience working with fixed asset module of an ERP system

· Experience of preparing accounting and audit schedules and notes
