Based in Hengoed, South Wales with occasional visits to Newport Pagnell c. 1 to 2 days per month (and including 30% flexible working wfh)

The UK Finance Controller represents an excellent opportunity to join the UK arm of this successful and global AIM listed Group. With the brief to provide support to and challenge the business, delivering profit and working capital targets, whilst overseeing and managing the reporting and control framework as part of a c. $1billion turnover Plc Group.
With a UK turnover of c. £100m across 3 sites, Design Group UK designs, manufactures, and sources celebration products including gift wrap, greeting cards, crackers and stationery.

Reporting to the UK Finance Director, the UK FC acts as a senior business partner to the UK senior and leadership teams, driving actions to improve financial performance. With day-to-day leadership of the UK finance team, the UK FC is responsible for ensuring all reporting requirements are met accurately and on-time, driving a culture of high-performance including support and mentoring. As the Finance lead on our intended ERP implementation the UK FC will need a strong grounding and understanding of business processes and project management.
The successful candidate will be a Qualified Accountant with a proven track record of career success and achievement within Senior Finance positions in the manufacturing sector. The candidate will possess both strong technical accounting skills with experience of managing control frameworks and internal/external audits as well as strong business partnering capability, with experience of managing budgets and forecasts. Evidence of leading high-performing teams and working to tight reporting deadlines are also key requirements. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a driven and proactive style, the successful candidate will enjoy working closely and challenging colleagues across the business. Possessing strong IT skills, multi-site experience would also be advantageous.
