Our client a global biotech company based in Speke are looking for a Procurement Operations Manager to join their Supply Chain/Procurement team.

The role holder will be responsible and accountable for the management of site-specific procurement requirements and providing leadership to the operational support team to ensure the effective and efficient running of site related procurement activities.

This will include activities such as supplier issue resolution, contract database management, price file maintenance, vendor database management, KPI reporting, and site-based metrics as required by the local SLT.

The role is to start ASAP on a 6-month contract basis, paying £15.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of the site team to ensure an uninterrupted service provision to the site's operational performance as impacted by our supply base
  • Ensure data is maintained and accurate so it reflects current operational needs, in so, preventing stock out issues
  • Approve supplier additions, changes, deletions in consultation with the wider Procurement and Business teams
  • Maintain the Site Based Procurement Dashboard for the Head of Procurement
  • Create, Execute, Deliver, and report procurement metrics that drive improvements and provide business insight to inform decisions
  • Challenge operational requirements and demands to ensure optimal sourcing outcomes can be delivered
  • Maintain appropriate relationships with suppliers and monitor their performance identify trends, issues and corrective action plans and act as the first escalation point of contact for supplier related performance issues at a site level
  • Ensure that all related activities are conducted in a timely, professional, and ethical manner
  • Ensure close collaboration with the site operational teams regarding volume forecasting, needs analysis, supplier performance and vendor approval
  • Ensure that the change management process and projects are effectively co-ordinated through to implementation by working cross functionally
  • Act as the key site liaison point for data requests from other sites and functions ensuring that the site spend, and requirements are captured in the Global reviews
  • Ensure that operational procurement tasks are executed according to the contract requirements
  • Ensure Compliance to the businesses Code of Responsible Business Practice
  • Ensure Compliance to Good Manufacturing Practice as defined by the SLT
  • Ensure authority and approval levels are adhered to and policed
  • Lead and Motivate the Procurement Operations team site team to achieve stretching targets
  • Develop the team via structured plans and career paths to create Category Managers of the future
  • Ensure team performance reviews are conducted on time in full to the company's policy

Key Skills/Experience:
  • Experience in managing a team of operational staff
  • 3-5 years' experience of managing supplier related issues and KPIs
  • Strong understanding of contract management and accountability
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong analysis and numerical skills
  • Customer Service focused mentality
  • System expert / SME for the companies Procurement system
  • Challenging mindset searching for continuous improvement
  • Demonstrable procurement experience with 3 years' experience in a manufacturing organisation
  • Experience of working within a pharmaceutical or highly regulated industry
