New Directions College is looking for an experienced and competent Tutor to deliver our education and learning support courses. Initially this will be on a sessional basis, however there may be scope for this to become a permanent fractional role within the academic year.

About us:

Reading Borough Council has delivered adult and community education (ACE) for over 63 years in Reading. Today, the service is delivered by New Directions College. We offer a complete range of formal and informal education programmes that includes Traineeships, Apprenticeships, Kickstart Work Programmes and work experience.

We specialise in delivering GCSEs and functional skills in English and Mathematics, English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) and essential and advanced digital skills qualifications. Furthermore, we offer a breadth of vocational qualifications in subjects such as business management, hospitality, Early Years and childcare, courses for teaching assistants and those who work in the education and training sector.

Our range of creative arts and crafts courses are also vibrant and includes ceramics, art, dressmaking and textiles, cookery and languages to list a few.

We offer all of our Tutors free membership to the Society of Education and Training, a comprehensive CPD package, a laptop and phone and travel expenses.

New Directions College is a Good College and we are on our journey towards outstanding. Do you have what it takes to move us to that next level?

About you:

You will be a dedicated and motivated professional ready to design and deliver innovative lessons to our adult learners. You will be able to demonstrate the core professional standards as defined by the Education and Training Foundation and as set out in the person specification for this role.

Ideally you will be experienced at delivering some or all the courses designated to this role. However, your occupational competence is of more importance.

We will however expect you to have either an Assessor qualification and/or Teaching qualification, preferably to a Cert Ed/DTTLS/PGCE standard.

It is essential that you have experience of delivering learning against an accredited curriculum and that you are familiar and comfortable devising content for the delivery of knowledge-based classes, as well as assessing occupational competence of your learners in the workplace.
