Legal Assistant - Costs Sheffield £19,000 to £21,000 plus benefits

My client is a leading law firm in Sheffield who is looking for a legal assistant in the costs department . The role will assist the costs department who support the whole firm in concluding files and submitting bills to and recovering monies from relevant bodies. We are ideally looking for individuals with previous legal costs experience who are looking to join a forward thinking , fast growing law firm. Key responsibilities include:

* Calculate portal fixed costs, litigation fixed recoverable costs and disbursements on RTA and EL / PL personal injury claims and submit to third party insurers and solcitors.
* Submit portal and FRC costs schedules
* instruct costs draftsman to prepare standard cost bill
* Liase with costs draftsmen regarding costs offer and assessment proceedings
* Negotiate on fixed costs PI matter and chasing payments
* Send out client cheques and billing clients
* Administer payments over the case management system
* Cover when department manager is on leave / away

The Person

* You will have a proven track record of working in legal costs or some exposure to how legal costs work perhaps in a fee earner capacity and be looking to follow this route.
* You will be organised and have a keen eye for detail
