What's Happening:

The healthcare PR team is delighted to announce a new role for an ambitious and collaborative Account Director who would be seen as a trusted advisor to two of the division's most important health clients. You will primarily work across 2 EU clients in the areas of organ transplantation and respiratory - the projects include product PR, corporate communications. digital/social innovation, patient advocacy, and sustainability. You'll partner with senior leads on both accounts, be the day-to-day client contact and help drive the business forwards. Both accounts boast comprehensive teams of highly intelligent and supportive people, whom you will help oversee.

Core responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of client campaigns/projects/teams to drive the business forward
  • Leads client meetings and calls, acting as the primary point of client contact
  • Provides strategic, creative and tactical input to all documents and gives shape, coherence and direction to communications materials
  • Proficient in managing senior team members to make best use of their time and expertise
  • Has a solid understanding of the NHS and major European health systems plus relevant global agencies (i.e. World Health Organization (WHO))
  • Has strong knowledge of key healthcare media outlets, reporters, and types of stories they cover
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of commercial drug development process
  • Offers advice as required to both team members and clients on compliance and the core elements of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) and European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) codes of practice
  • Proactively works with senior account team members to identify organic business growth opportunities and present concepts to clients
  • Acts as line manager to junior staff, ensuring that appraisals are conducted on time, and actions are followed
  • Takes ownership for the financial status of their accounts, assisting with budgetary control (e.g. trackers, fee forecasting/reconciliation, budgeting and invoicing)


Who are you?
  • Proven track record and experience at Account Director level in an agency environment or in-house communications experience within a pharmaceutical company, is essential
  • Proven experience of working on Pan-European or global communications programs in one or more of the following areas: healthcare, consumer health, medical devices and biotech
  • Proactive character, able to navigate changeable and fast-paced environments with high expectations
  • A solid understanding of current and emerging topics in the healthcare environment
  • An insightful and strategic approach to using traditional, digital and social media
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen
  • Stellar individual and group presentation skills
  • Excellent copywriting and copyediting abilities
