Job Description

The GBU Operations team provides operational support to the GBU consulting line of business, designed to proactively lower risk, foster effective and profitable delivery and management of projects, and provide remediation assistance as required to enable Consulting to deliver high-value solutions to our customers. This Business Analyst 4 role will be a member of a fast-paced Operations team supporting the project financial lifecycle for the Retail Consulting line of business in both EMEA and APAC in the RGBU.

The Business Analyst 4 will contribute individually and work closely with other Business Operations team members including GBU finance shared services and other Oracle operational teams such Collections, Finance, and Rev Rec. This role will act as a trusted advisor/partner to the LOB on all things related to project financials and will ensure focus on reducing risk and ensuring a smooth workflow from project start to project closure. Work is often non-routine and the business is fast changing. Successful candidates will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where they work independently as well as collaborating with other members of the Ops team.

  • Support a set of RGBU Consulting Project Managers and be their primary contact for all project accounting/financial issues
  • Support the PMs through the project lifecycle including, project setup, project funding, resource assignments, time entry, invoicing, revenue recognition, and project closure
  • Ensure that revenue for all project types is taken in the correct period per Oracle rev rec policy
  • Have a solid understanding of revenue recognition policies for both T&M and Fixed Price project accounting (including how revenue is calculated for Fixed-Price Percentage or Completion projects)
  • Manage the monthly invoicing process, ensuring invoice accuracy while minimizing the need for credits/rebills due to invoice errors
  • Prepare ad-hoc reporting for PMs and LOB management when necessary
  • Be able to use project reporting and analytical skill to dig into complex revenue, funding, PO, and invoicing issues with little to no supervision. This will often include building solid relationships/collaborating with other Oracle operational teams and acting as the lead to see issues through to completion
  • Assist the LOB with the revenue forecasting process when required, proactively highlighting potential revenue risks, and using reporting and analytical skills to validate forecasted revenue
  • Provides programs to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and compliance in support of the organization's financial and tactical business objectives. Provides business practices and processes. Develops, communicates, and trains the organization on business practices and processes.

Personal Skills and Qualifications:
  • BA/BS preferably in Finance, Business Administration, or Operations
  • Minimum of five years of professional work experience working as an analyst
  • Proficient at analyzing and manipulating data in Excel
  • Experience writing and running reports to query data
  • Solid problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to work extended hours during peak periods
  • Ability to work independently and learn by trial and error
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with business partners and stakeholders in order to accomplish team goals
