The Role

The Communications Executive will support the Communications team in delivering the Group's external, internal and investor communications activity. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain the team's high standards of technical and service excellence. This role requires project management skills, the ability to produce a high volume of written copy often to tight deadlines, and the ability to maintain and develop excellent external and internal stakeholder relationships.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Take briefs, research and draft press releases, internal news stories, blog posts, thought leadership articles, news agenda commentary. Maximise their impact in the local, national, trade and legal press
  • Developing and drafting submissions in line within the company strategy guidelines both within our target media and for wider industry award opportunities
  • Drafting speeches for internal stakeholders for key external events
  • Draft copy for corporate advertising
  • Outline storyboards for a range of communications videos
  • Provide support copy for client mailings and printed marketing communication where required
  • Maintain and develop good relationships with our key target media liaising with them on a regular basis both in person and via the telephone and social media
  • Negotiate placement of press releases, thought leadership features and comment pieces with key journalists and hold regular and proactive discussions with them to identify ongoing news opportunities
  • Organise and attend media briefings/press events and relevant networking opportunities
  • Organise press photography and creative photo calls and draft briefs for photography work
  • Undertake relevant market research to support proactive PR activity
  • Support the Group internal communications strategy including feeding into internal publications, video and audio messages, content for internal conferences and messaging for team briefings
  • Research and edit internal publications and Group-wide communications
  • Support the Internal Communications team in managing the content delivery for our digital workplace platform
  • Support the CCM and the Internal Communications team with the Group's key internal annual conferences as directed
  • Work with the Digital Marketing team to monitor and support the Group's social media activity, including blogs, LinkedIn and Twitter
  • Adhere to and help implement the Group's social media policy and guidelines internally
  • Source and engage with social media influencers, where appropriate
  • Attend meetings with key internal stakeholders and unit / group heads to offer guidance and support and gather information that can be used for proactive PR and media relations activity
  • Liaise with third-party suppliers including the Group's Financial PR agency, design agencies, press monitoring service provider, photographers and video production companies
  • Support with the administration for the Corporate Communications team
  • Support our CSR committee in driving promotion, both externally and internally, of the Group's fundraising and community relations activity

Key Skills & Experience
  • An excellent level of written English, grammar and punctuation are essential
  • Word and powerpoint skills and experience in managing corporate social media networking sites such as Linkedin, Twitter, Wordpress and YouTube
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • An excellent grasp of current affairs and the daily news agenda
  • A keen interest in the professional services industry
  • A CIPR diploma or equivalent would be a distinct advantage. A track record of generating pro-active, creative communications across all mediums would be advantageous.
