The day job

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Robotic process Engineer to join our Programmes & Technology team who manage and develop technical solutions that support the whole of the Employment Services in NHS SBS. This would see you involved with managing internal and external projects as part of a programme of work and also supporting and developing internal ES IT solutions, including RPA.

Key responsibilities:
  • Assessment of process suitability for automation
  • Develop and release highly reliable robots
  • Support the project team with capturing current 'as is' and 'to be' processes, assessing the business impact, and any risks implications
  • Providing estimates
  • Developing test scripts to evidence automated processes
  • Provide support to the operational teams and System Engineers
  • Testing new processes and functionality
  • Offer insights on leading best practice design, usage, build and implementation of RPA
  • Understand the business process requirements and design
  • Working with the business and IT teams to assess automation feasibility
  • Work closely with project leads to understand their needs with regards to the RPA solution proposed


Required skills

You need to have:

  • Educated to A level or equivalent
  • Certified UiPath/Kofax RPA/Blue Prism developer or equivalent
  • Computing related degree (e.g. Computer science, Information systems etc.)
  • Experience of having designed & built RPA solutions - with hands on experience of one of these specific technologies - Kofax RPA, UI Path, Blueprism, Automation Anywhere or Workfusion
  • Proven technical experience in an IT related environment, ideally in RPA tools or automation
  • Experience of product development within automation
  • A proven track record of working within projects
  • Change management experience
  • Experience of process mapping and re-engineering to focus on efficiency


It would be great if you had:

  • Execution of lean and/or six-sigma operational improvement projects
  • Proven experience in applying well-developed problem solving skills (quantitative, conceptual, analytical)
  • Strong record of academic achievement
  • Prince 2/ ITIL preferred or similar Project Management qualification
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in a specialist area
  • Proven technical experience in an IT related environment, ideally in RPA tools or automation
  • Knowledge or interest in development skills such as VB .NET and object orientated programming
  • Knowledge of the structure and working of the NHS
  • Strong understanding of Data Protection Act (DPA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • Advanced knowledge of Information Security Management: NHS Code of Practice
