Senior Network & Infrastructure Engineer

Home based with regular weekly travel to our Glasgow HO

Permanent, Full-Time

Salary range £40k - £60k per annum


Avidity Group are looking to add an experienced Network and Infrastructure Engineer into their current IT team. The successful candidate will be a highly skilled and seasoned network engineer who has strong expertise across a range of infrastructure platforms, primarily Microsoft server environment, Azure, Hyper-V, System Center, SAN, firewalls etc. The role will involve supporting an environment larger than 80 servers across multiple locations/1100 workstations spanning Head Office, DR sites, satellite offices and field based users. A self-starter that enjoys working on challenging projects delivering to a high standard within an evolving and fast paced business. You must be eager to further develop your skills and work on cutting edge Microsoft technologies.

What skills are we looking for?
  • Strong Active Directory, ADFS, DNS, and DHCP experience in a multi-site environment (On premise and Azure)
  • PowerShell scripting
  • Microsoft server 2012/2012R2/2016/2019 (Data Centre)
  • Microsoft System Center (SCCM and SCOM)
  • MS Enterprise Mobility and Security (Endpoint Management)
  • MS Advanced Threat Analytics, Information Protection, Mobile Device Management, Multi Factor Authentication
  • Microsoft 365 Administration including security and compliance, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint...
  • Strong backup/Disaster recovery/Failover/HA and business continuity knowledge and experience
  • In depth knowledge of LAN/WAN topologies
  • Windows Client OS primarily 10
  • Hyper-V (Clustering)
  • SAN Administration
  • SQL Enterprise Clustering
  • Firewall/VPN solutions (Cisco ASA & Any Connect experience preferable)
  • Anti-Virus and Malware governance and management
  • Security updates and patch management
  • Microsoft Azure Administration
  • An understanding of Microsoft best practice security and compliance methods
  • Reporting to the Network and Infrastructure Manager
  • Primarily working from home with occasional requirement to attend Glasgow Office site
  • Microsoft System Center (VMM and Orchestrator)
  • Cisco networking
  • Working knowledge of security standards e.g. ISO27001, ITIL
  • Azure Devops
  • Experience of owning and managing projects
  • Improvement identification and implementation of policies to support the business
  • Experience working with 3rd part service providers

Who are we looking for?

  • Highly skilled and seasoned network infrastructure engineer with a strong expertise across a range of infrastructure platforms
  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Strong problem-solving skills both software and hardware knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organisation skills with a track record of successfully delivering significant, high profile and multi-disciplinary projects.

· Ability to anticipate and manage issues, shifting priorities and timelines
