Financial Accountant / Manager | City of London | £65-70K + Bonus + Benefits

Due to growth and diversification in the UK and overseas, this leading investment management company is seeking to hire within its Group finance team of 10 people, an accomplished qualified operational accountant to take responsibility for the financial, treasury, VAT and accounting operations for a portfolio of fund manager and development entities within the group. The role will work closely with other team members to ensure all reporting and filing deadlines are met across the group.

The role will be responsible for providing detailed variance commentary as part of the production of the quarterly consolidated management accounts and assist the FD on other ad hoc analysis and projects.

It is expected that this role will develop into a Financial Controller position on 12 months' service.

Role responsibilities

  • Responsible for financial reporting for portfolio of entities within the group - mainly UK though some exposure to overseas possible including:
  • Undertaking quarterly closes for portfolio of entities (posting of accruals, prepayments, bank reconciliations, journal postings)
  • Preparation of year end statutory accounts for entities and liaising with auditors
  • Preparation of VAT returns and supporting preparation of corporation tax returns
  • Management reporting
  • Dealing with queries (counterparties, shareholder, asset managers, auditors)
  • Treasury management for example account openings, managing funding flows/banking, reviewing bank reconciliations and managing intra-group cross-currency funding requirements for new investments / divestments across the group
  • Setting up new group entities, new bank accounts and VAT registrations
  • Managing group quarterly close program / timetable
  • Providing support to Group FC on quarterly consolidated management accounts including providing commentary and variance analysis
  • Providing financial analysis, projects and ad hoc support to Group FC and CFO

Key skills required

  • A qualified operational accountant with previous industry experience of managing a number of entities within a corporate group - ideally in investment management and/or real assets/renewable energy development businesses
  • ACA / ACCA
  • Strong academic record and/or a degree
  • Highly numerate
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage to tight reporting deadlines
  • Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team
  • A proactive, problem solving and pre-emptive approach to tackling issues and managing risk
  • Very high attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm to add value to the role and keen develop further skills and experience as the Group grows
