With strong backing we have spent the last few years building the global platform and we are now in our commercialisation phase of the business.

As a Cookpad Engineer, you will join a very high performing global team to help deliver our product to end users throughout the world

RequirementsWhat will your typical week look like?

The Data Engineering team is currently responsible for maintaining and giving support for the data pipeline that populates our Data Warehouse.

However, our team's vision and goal is to empower Cookpad's employees to improve the value of their work by enabling them to make decisions based on data. The team would like to hire passionate Senior Data Engineers to help us build a self-service data platform that will allow us to achieve those goals.

A normal sprint cycle for a Senior Data Engineer would include
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather their technical requirements for a data platform as well as the challenges that it should help them to solve.
  • Collaborate with other Senior Data Engineers on the design of not only the architecture of the data platform but also on the delivery plan so that the team can deliver the platform in multiple phases.
  • Be hands-on in building and delivering the data platform as well as setting up team processes for operating it.
  • Reviewing your teammates' Pull Requests and providing helpful feedback.
  • Help Mid-level Data Engineers to push their technical limits so that they continue progressing towards a Senior role.
Is this role for you?

This role will be based onsite in Bristol (we provide relocation and visa sponsorship). We are currently working fully remotely until January 2022.

Data Engineers' jobs start with planning (identifying issues and thinking out possible solutions) which may require discussion with other teams or detailed analysis of current systems. In this planning phase, a data engineer should be self-driven, a good communicator, and good at problem solving.

Design, development, and operation is carried out by the team or individual depending on scope of the system. Abilities to design scalable and reliable systems to process massive data, to implement with relevant programming languages, and to deploy/operate it on cloud platforms like AWS are required in this phase.

  • Experience identifying problems and defining requirements for data analysis platforms through discussion with stakeholders.
  • Experience designing, developing, deploying and operating end-to-end data analysis platforms which include
  • Data pipelines for both static (ex. RDBMS) and streaming data (ex. user activity log).
  • DWH/DataLake as a single source of truth for the whole organization.
  • Business Intelligence tools that allow non-technical users to utilize data.
Experience with distributed data processing, like Redshift, BigQuery, Spark. We are using Redshift.Experience with at least one of the following programming languages; Java, Python and Scala
The above description of the role is not finite, please apply even if you don't think you fit all the requirements. We are looking for people who show promise, are eager to learn and grow and connect with our mission.
