Overview of the role
Xodus continues to grow its support offering to the energy industry and we now have a need for an Onshore Cables Consultant to join our Environment team. Working as a key member of our busy Environmental and Social Impact Assessment team, you will provide support to a suite of onshore cable projects, including those associated with interconnectors, export cables from energy generation offshore, and power from shore projects. You may also use your skills to support our work in other areas (such as offshore cables) should the opportunity arise.
With a background of supporting the consenting of onshore linear infrastructure projects and with knowledge of associated legislation (such as the Town and Country Planning Act), derived from your time as a consultant, regulator, stakeholder, installation contractor or developer, you will work with the team to support our clients through the full project life cycle. This will include route and site selection scopes, interfacing with onshore and offshore ESIA teams, and advising on and delivering post-consent needs.
You will act as project manager across a range of jobs, taking the key client contact role on a day to day basis, and leading consultants within the team (and external sub-consultants) to deliver these projects on time and to budget. You will also work closely with our Renewables Division, in particular our Interconnectors and Cables engineers, to deliver on integrated linear infrastructure projects. Because of this, you will need to be familiar not only with the consenting aspects of these projects but also have a working knowledge of the associated technical challenges.
Where your technical ability excels in a particular area, we would expect you to act as, or quickly become, an internal Subject Matter Expert.Requirements
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Degree level (environmental or other relevant discipline);
- Project management experience;
- You will have a track record in delivering onshore cable scopes across route selection, scoping, ESIA, HRA and post-consent; and
- Sound working knowledge of onshore cable installation methodologies, and associated environmental and technical constraints.
What you will do
- Knowledge of the onshore planning system would be beneficial;
- Ideally, you will have a good understanding of the legislation in all parts of the UK; and
- You will know how to engage effectively with stakeholders, including with regulators and statutory consultees.
You will sit within the Environment Division but work with engineers and environmental practitioners from across the Xodus business to deliver integrated cable project solutions, from concept design, route engineering, ESIA and construction support. This will include contributing to the development of Geospatial (GIS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems tools and systems to support the delivery of our projects.
Xodus places a strong emphasis on professional accreditation and will encourage and support you in achieving/retaining your desired level.
Ultimately, we bring great, motivated, people together who all understand how energy solutions can be technically, economically, ethically and environmentally sustainable. And as well as working with the great team to deliver to established and emerging businesses, with the role Xodus holds in some projects, you will find yourself as close to being a developer as it's possible to get in consultancy.Benefits
