Working as a part of the Executive Team, the Finance Director is responsible for the efforts, results and success of the organisation's Finance & HR department as well as providing financial advice and support to assist the Executive Team to make key decisions. The Finance Director will drive long-term planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes for the businesses and will provide actionable monthly reports, analysis, and recommendations. The position will deliver key insights to executive management and will require strong influencing & communication skills. This role oversees the Finance team in the UK, as well as other members of the finance function who are based in the USA & Europe.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership to the Board's Finance and Accounting strategy, to optimise the company's financial performance and strategic position.
  • Contribute fully to the development of company strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business initiatives.
  • P&L, Budget Management & Reporting - Ensure timely and accurate management and financial reporting to the Board as well as creating and monitoring budgets.
  • Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions.
  • Own, drive, review, and complete the budget process for each business department.
  • Ensure that all of the company's financial practices are in line in statutory regulations and legislation, inc preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
  • Oversee month-end close procedures (review of results, month-end accruals, prepayments and accounting adjustments).
  • Supervise financial controllers and other employees in the facilitation of day-to-day operations, including tracking financial data, invoicing, payroll, etc.
  • Compares sales, profit & cost projections to actuals & oversee adjustments to forecasts & budgets.
  • Review planning process and suggests improvements to current methods.
  • Work with the CFO and other C-Suite executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities for the planning process.
  • Partner with the CFO to help set the strategic direction and drive relationships with external parties, such as investors.
  • Seek out methods and practices to minimise financial risk and optimise the cost base.
  • Contract auditing services to ensure financial monitoring is up-to-date.
  • Create and maintain relationships with service providers and contractors, including banking institutions, accountants/auditors.
  • Oversee the company's finance IT systems.
  • Update and implement financial policies and procedures.


Required Skills and Experience
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or international equivalent qualification).
  • 8+ years experience with at least 3+ years at a senior level, leading teams and working closely with executive stakeholders.
  • Extensive business partnering & cost accounting experience.
  • Strong executive communication skills and consultative approach to partner with senior leadership and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to travel and spend a meaningful amount of time in the USA, as and when required.
  • Ability to work effectively with a geographically dispersed executive team.


Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Strong interest, in the technology industry.
  • Experience working in SaaS industry.
  • Experience with NetSuite applications is desirable.
  • Capital markets and investor relations experience, with the capability to engage credibly with key industry stakeholders, particularly financial analysts.
  • Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS accounting standards
