Cost Engineering is an exciting department that plays a key role in our business; it is driven by a passion to deliver profitable growth, by partnering the business in all our operational functions (principally Product Development, Advanced Product Creation, Finance and Purchasing).
It is the role of Cost Engineering to provide the business with robust, relevant and timely 'Should Cost' estimates and analysis, relating to any part or assembly, supplied for use in the production of Jaguar or Land Rover vehicles, be they current or future models.
The exploration and development of cost-effective design and manufacturing opportunities, presented alongside robust commodity strategy, is an integral part of our successful relationship within the business.
You'll be responsible for delivering 'vendor tooling should cost' estimates for a specific sub-set of parts. Vendor Tooling Cost and Content Sign Off (Value for Money). Cost Interrogation and Supplier/ Toolmaker Negotiation. Commercial Activity. Tooling/ Manufacturing Process/ Component Design. You will provide insight and support to Advanced Engineering in the form of Value Engineering studies. Support the Purchase team in their negotiations with suppliers. Work closely with Design Engineers as a business advisor. You will also be responsible for identifying and supporting the implementation of opportunities to reduce costs. Influencing relevant programmes and commodity directions. Driving cross-functional commercial and technical initiatives within the matched trio framework. Perform tooling cost value for money analysis on component design changes. Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time.WHAT YOU'LL NEED
It is essential that you understand Component Design and have Production Process Manufacturing Experience. You will have effective cross-functional team working experience and influencing skills to manage the activities with a good level of independence. You must have the ability to manage, maintain and utilise data to support cost activities and a relevant degree or equivalent experience is preferred
