Five years ago, the technology team played a largely tactical role in supporting and maintaining the tills and back of house functions. Roll the clock forward, and tech is now firmly at the centre of the strategic narrative of the business where we:

The last year has been an incredible catalyst for change, compressing the arrival of digital in our customer experiences into a matter of months which might have otherwise taken years. This is just the start, though. The customer's mobile phone might well be accepted around a Nando's meal, but it is far from being appreciated with digital experiences all but beginning to tap into the higher-order emotional states of our customers. We also have many exciting opportunities internally, without which the customer experiences will only hit a glass ceiling, and business growth will be constrained. Many of the technologies which are widely adopted in both advanced and scaled-up manufacturing facilities are becoming viable in smaller-scale environments, such as restaurants. What we're looking for:

We are looking for an experienced lead to join our passionate, lean, agile, fast growing, evolving and tech-loving team on a permanent basis. The projects we are working on are innovative and will change the fast-casual dining experience forever.

As atechnical leadyou will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying and maintaining innovative solutions using the latest tools and technologies.Technical leads work in conjunction with platform managers and engineersproviding exceptional technical advice, driving continuous improvement across project and delivery initiatives, hands-on guidance and direction to team members through their extensive knowledge and expertise in the end-to-end application software development lifecycle.

We're looking for someone with a rich breadth of experience, who is equally comfortable talking about financial projections or business process modelling as advocating for TDD. You'll be comfortable designing and articulating solutions and working closely with stakeholders to ensure we're delivering the right thing in the right way.

You'll be passionate about moving Nando's forward and be a champion of best practices, patterns, process and tech. Leadership is not something you do from far away, you get the importance of taking people with you along the journey and are able to influence and coach those around you to orchestrate team success.

You will gain a deep understanding of the Nando's technical landscape, challenges and opportunities in order to help senior stakeholders shape the technical strategy for the program of work. You will distinguish yourself in the way you articulate this with stakeholders and how you create and deliver robust, scalable, elegant, flexible and relevant software solutions that truly transform our industry.

You will support our platform teams, providing technical input to projects, managing and mentoring our highly skilled and motivated engineers and testers. Like all our engineers you will be a polyglot with extensive experience across a wide range of technologies and projects and will relish tackling and solving tough problems.

Even if your recent roles have taken you away from being as hands-on as you might like, you've no doubt found other ways to keep your coding skills from getting too rusty and we expect that you'll have had exposure to recent technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Our technical leads have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects across a wide range of products that enable us to operate our restaurants business efficiently and provide customers with a great experience.

As a Nando's Technical Lead, you will allow each solution to drive the technology choice, not the other way around. You will be technology agnostic and choose the right tool for the job.

Skills required:

✔️ Formulation and ongoing updates of the technical roadmap, managing associated requirements, risks and dependencies

✔️ Technical leadership and guidance for a specific platform team

✔️ Provide SME consultation to teams and projects as well as support teams as required

✔️ Manage vendors to ensure delivery of initiatives are delivered as per the solution requirement and design

✔️ Assist with practices and principles to ensure adoption across teams, as well as measuring and maintaining maturity

✔️ Lead the vision, strategy and values within the team and across the organisation.

✔️ Build out new technology competencies within Nando's

✔️ Explore ways to improve our business

✔️ Assist in mentoring and gathering feedback on Nando's engineers and testers
