Lead PHP Developer - Fully Remote - £60,000 - £70,000 - PHP, CodeIgniter / Laravel / Lumen, React, Microservices

A great opportunity to work with (officially) one of the UK's Best Workplaces has arisen. These guys have been a top client of mine this year as they've gone through a tremendous period of growth & it appears as if they're not finished.

They're looking for their next Lead PHP Developer to join their team & oversee 3 Engineers within your unit, working alongside other units & departments. The role will be Engineering & Agile focused, consisting of some legacy work with CodeIgniter & jQuery but predominantly working on new microservices with Laravel / Lumen & some React work.

They are a SaaS business within the E-Learning sector with their own platform that helps big employers drive down the cost of business-critical training.

Lead PHP Developer Core Requirements:
  • Proven experience in delivering scalable web apps through the LAMP stack, using an MVC framework like CodeIgniter or Lumen
  • Ideally, previous experience as a Lead developer with the ability to motivate and drive a team towards its goals.
  • Strong experience of the Agile methodology.
  • A drive to deliver robust code through TDD/BDD.
  • Knowledge of database technologies (SQL & NoSQL)
  • Good understanding of MVC & SOLID


Nice to haves:
  • An e-learning background / experience
  • Infrastructure/dev-ops skills, or CI/CD/Jenkins are a big bonus.
  • React
